Project Aim
In July 2020, IWC launched season 1 of Tell My Story, a podcast that aims to give frontline workers a platform to share their stories. Our goal was to shed light on the vast variety of COVID-19 heroes keeping our community afloat during these challenging times. Tell My Story highlighted the stories of healthcare workers, researchers, and government representatives, but also those often overlooked in the media, such as teachers, grocery store clerks, flight attendants, and small business owners. In October 2021, Tell My Story launched its second season with five new episodes.
Volunteer Involvement and Roles
While the podcast was organized and hosted by IWC's Public Health Cohort Directors Haleema and Helena, our goal was to provide volunteers with opportunities to be involved in the ideation process, help with production, and step into leadership positions.
Interested volunteers were divided into Outreach, Script Writers, Script Editors, Audio Editors, and Technical Managers, each team being led by a Volunteer Leader. The teams worked together, optimizing their strengths to craft informative and interesting interviews.
