Every week, one of our volunteers shares their quarantine faves. Meet this week's volunteer, Maeen from Canada!
Hello! My name is Maeen I am 17 years young and I’m from the lovely town of London, Ontario Canada. Throughout my life, I’ve always had a passion for art, and more recently a newfound love for graphic design. I’ve personally been apart of the amazing IWC community for a little over a month and now and it’s been nothing short of a perfect experience! For most of the time here I’ve indulged in a variety of opportunities throughout the community such as creating infographics and writing letters to seniors!
Quarantine Activity Reccomdations:
So since there has been lots of time to "flaner" as my Francophone self would exclaim I am going to providing a wide variety of activities, movies, shows, and songs to indulge in throughout your free time. I've been cultivating this list for over a week so I hope you enjoy and give some of my recommendations a chance in the wind! Also, I will be providing you with all the necessary resources/ samples for each of my recommendations for ease of use and so you can get straight into the action!
1. Yoga! Yoga can help improve a person's mental well-being and a consistent and efficient yoga routine can create mental clarity and calmness for a person's stress levels! Furthermore, yoga helps increase body awareness, relieves chronic stress patterns, relaxes the mind, and my favourite benefit is that exponentially your sharpens concentration which can be especially helpful for those long days of school and lectures! (sighs in crying emoji face)
Personally, yoga is an essential part of my weekly schedule and I try to get in at least 2-3 sessions per week! Lastly, here are some of the resources I find most useful!
Quarantine Movie Recommendations:
I recently watched a movie called Wonder Woman and I highly recommend it to you all. In elaboration, before she was Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, Diana meets an American pilot (Chris Pine) who tells her about the massive conflict that's raging in the outside world. Convinced that she can stop the threat, Diana leaves her home for the first time. Fighting alongside men in a war to end all wars, she finally discovers her full powers and true destiny.Trailer for Wonder Woman
Quarantine Show Recommendations:
One of my favourite shows that I binged throughout my time in quarantine was a show called Daredevil, and luckily for you, it had 3 seasons! Basically, the protagonist of the show is Matt Mudrock, A blind lawyer by day, vigilante by night. Matt Murdock fights the crime of New York as Daredevil. Its an amazing story and I would highly recommend it to anyone with an opening in their entertainment schedule!Trailer for Daredevil
Quarantine Song Recommendations:
Finally, for my last quarantine recommendation, I'm going to be recommending to a song that I've listened to for a while now. The song is called Keep Your Head Up by Andy Grammar. Keep Your Head Up by Andy Grammar is a fun, catchy, and uplifting song and it helps to lift my spirits whenever I'm feeling down or unmotivated during the especially long days in quarantine! Here is the link to the song
