Hi, my name is Aishwaria, and I'm going to be a highschool junior. What I love to do, over my free time is bake, play badminton, embroidery, help people in whatever I can help them for, and also raise awareness to situations. So far for IWC, I have written blogs about COVID-19 news, blogs for recommendation, and also made cards and posters for various different groups. (True Davidson Acres, Michael Garron Hospital, Trillium Health Partner.) While writing this blog, I found some fascinating things that might interest you readers. Throughout my experience with IWC, I hope to gain more skills, and help people in need throughout these tough times!
How will the province (Ontario) be reopening schools?
For the Ontario province they are looking into reopening schools for this September. However, parents have a decision on whether to put them in fully remote learning or to do both (In person and online).
How will elementary/middle schools be like this September?
Elementary/Middle school students will be returning to class as usual, 5 day per a week. As of now, the government keeps the number of students the same. This brings some parents into questioning, “Would my child be safe in an environment like this one?” Grade 3 and the grades below it aren't required to wear a mask, but are “encouraged.” However Grade 4- 12 it is mandatory to wear non-medical masks. There will only be one teacher for one cohort throughout the day.
How will secondary schools be like this September?
In each cohort there will be about 15 students with their desk spread apart by 6ft or 2m. There are 24 boards who will be doing online and in person learning. Here is the list for designated school boards:
∙ Toronto

The TDSB board decided for highschool students to do quadmester. Where you will do 2 classes every 45 days after that you do exams, and then go do the next two classes. In the morning it will be in person and the afternoon will be online. For the student that opt out of in person learning will have to do at least 90 mins of each class. Here are some visual reparations to help understand it:
